Client: Home Design Plan Service
Project Overview: Home Design Plan Service is a stock home design firm with over 200 home and house blueprints to suit every design need from simple floor plans to complex floor plan designs.
Challenge: Our challenge was to take the client's pre-existing branding, design, website structure and existing content to produce a more professional looking web presence. Not only the site was in need of redesign, but also new structure, leaner code to improve search engine marketing, as well as preparing it for a later implementation of e-commerce.
Responsibilities: In the process of redesign and development of the site, we started with creating and cleaning up the old branding, and using the old color scheme when designing new look for the company. The code was scrapped and replaced with clean, compatible and search engine optimized code. No more frames or tables. The overall layout, look and feel was redrawn to deliver a more professional and modern user interface.
The goal for the site was to come up with a design and layout, which would be simple, consistent and user-friendly. Furthermore, when rebuilding the site, we kept in mind that the site will be in need of e-commerce feature in the near future, so we created a code that could be used more effectively the time will come.
While building the site from scratch, we put our emphasis on web standards, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and search engine optimization. All the design plans and their description was before available only within a "gif" image, which made the content inaccessible to search engines or visitors with disabilities. Therefore, we had to recreate each plan in a text format to make it accessible to everyone.
