Project Overview: Portland Fashion Week emphasizes on eco-responsible fashion, stage independent designers, and draw national attention to Portland’s unique intersection of Art, Commerce, and Sustainability.
Challenge: When Portland Fashion Week came to us, there was already partially built site. With Island Graphics collaboration, Big B was able to create a new design that we then took over and brought to live.
Responsibilities: Our responsibility was to build the site up to the latest web standards, make it accessible, cross-browser compatible, and have it optimized for search engines.
Our initial goal was to make the code as clean and as lean as possible, not too image heavy where possible to decrease overall file size and increase the download size. When building the site, which layout is purely CSS-based, we kept in mind that client will be the one making further changes and modifications to the site. Therefore, we kept the folder structure as well as file structure as simple as we could.
Furthermore, we made sure to not forget and create a custom 404 page to avoid possibly loosing potential new visitors to the site that might find or come across links that reference to some pages or file from the old site. We also embedded a customized Google Map with an option to directly input your starting or destination point to get driving directions.
In addition, the site was in need of a form and a custom favicon, which nowadays is a must-have!
