Client: Saint Honoré Boulangerie
Project Overview: Saint Honoré Boulangerie is a French bakery with two Oregon locations; originally in NW Portland and a second location now in Lake Oswego . The bakery already had a nicely designed website, but due to the way the website code was structured, during each requested change or update within the website, various sections started to break and became unmanageable.
Challenge: Our challenge was to take an already client's existing branding and the overall website design and fix up the back-end without any dramatic changes on the front-end. We achieved a two part goal of updating code that was no longer compatible with current web browsers or search engine technology as well as to make updates more efficiently.
Responsibilities: One of the first tasks to clean up the code, was to reduce its length, as well as its file size by eliminating unnecessary code, creating an external style sheet containing all the formatting for the entire site. Once the basic page structure had been upgraded, we simply migrated the existing content and added a few perks such as a Favorites Icon, Custom Error 404 page and search engine friendly code.
Also, we updated the contact and directions pages. Within the directions page we have embedded a custom Google map with a branded markers for both locations.
Now the website is built according to current web standards using semantic code and optimized for search engines, the further updates became much easier and faster without having to troubleshoot and fixing unexpected errors.
