When a virus is released and the propagation method is determined to be via an E-mail attachment, SonicWALL issues a notification to block all incoming attachments matching the characteristics of the infected E-mail such as the file name or subject line. Once the attachment is blocked at the SonicWALL appliance, the virus is unable to penetrate the network. These alerts are available with hours of the outbreak and hours before an updated DAT file is available to clean the infected files.
