E-mail Services Help - MS Outlook Setup

Big B Creations has created this new E-mail Account Setup Guide page for clients who need to setup their E-mail accounts in Microsoft Outlook. You will need a username and password along with incoming and outgoing server information that will be provided to you from a Big B staff member.

NOTE: If your ISP blocks Port 25 (Outgoing E-mail) you must use their SMTP Rules. Comcast.net is one of these service providers, if you are connecting through them, please use smtp.comcast.net and Do Not have "outgoing server requires authentication".

>> Open Microsoft Outlook

Click on Tools menu, then on E-mail Accounts.

The E-mail Account Popup Wizard Will appear.

Outlook 2003

>> Add a new E-mail account

To create a new account, click the "Add a new E-mail account radio button"

Click Next.

Click either the Server Type "POP3" or IMAP radio button. (note that the following screens for either vary slightly).

Note: The following screens reflect POP3 settings.

Click Next.

Outlook 2003 Server Type

Enter in your Name and your E-mail address that you would like to use.

Enter your User Name and Password. These will be provided to you by a Big B staff member. User Name should be your full E-mail address
(ex. username@Domain.tld)

Enter the Incoming and Outgoing mail server info. These will be provided to you by a Big B staff member.

Leave the "Log In using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" checkbox empty, unless instructed by a Big B Staff member to do otherwise.

Click the More Settings Tab.

If your Internet Service Provider has blocked port 25, then you will have to setup the Outgoing mail server to use theirs.

If you use Comcast as an Internet Service Provider then you will have to enter smtp.comcast.net in the Outgoing server Mail box. If you use Verizon as an Internet Service Provider then you will have to enter outgoing.verizon.net in the Outgoing server Mail box, as showed on images below.

If you do not use Comcast but Port 25 is blocked, please contact your Internet Service Provider for their server name information.

The Mail Account box should be input, but you can enter any name you like.

You can either enter info in the Other User Information boxes or leave them blank.

Click the Outgoing Server Tab.

Click the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" Checkbox.

Click the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" radio button.

Leave all other radio buttons blank.

Click on the Connection Tab.

If your Internet Service Provider has blocked port 25 (such as Comcast Internet users), then you will have to setup the outgoing mailserver to theirs and turn off (uncheck) the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" Checkbox.

Choose your Internet Connection type.

If you are on DSL, Cable Modem or other network connection:

Click the "Connect using my local area network (LAN)" radio button.

If you use Dial-Up / Modem Internet Connection:

Click the Connect using my phone line and select the Modem used for the connection from the Drop down menu.

If you do not have a Local Area Network (LAN) connection please Contact Big B Creations.

Click the Advanced Tab.

The necessary information should already be in this section.

Double check that the following info are input into the boxes:

Incoming server (POP3) : 110
Outgoing server (SMTP): 25

Leave all checkboxes empty.

Click the OK Button.

You will be brought back to the Internet E-mail Settings Box.

Click on the "Test Account Settings" button to test the information you entered is correct and you have a connection.

If the test was successful it will say "Congratulations all tests completed successfully".

Click the Close Button.

But if it was not successful....

>> Test Account with ERRORS

If the test was unsuccessful it will show the Errors Tab with all of the errors that occurred during the test.

Click Close and go back to the beginning to check that all information was entered correctly.

If the test was successful and you clicked the Close Button you will be back at the Internet E-mail Settings box.

Click the Next Button.

Congratulations you have successfully added a new E-mail Account to your Microsoft Outlook.

Click the Finish Button and have fun with your Microsoft Outlook Services.
